Lalor is a suburb located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It sits 17 km north of Melbourne's Central Business District. It is also situated within Whittlesea’s local government area.
Suburbs around Labor are Campbellfield, Epping, Mill Park, Thomastown, and Bundoora.
According to the 2021 census, Lalor has a population of 23,219.
The suburb Lalor was originally a part of Thomastown. On August 1949, Lalor’s first Post Office opened.
In 1906, the Mentone Fire Station was built on the corner of Mentone Parade and Brindisi Street. In 1957, the building was relocated to Vasey Street where it was the Lalor Fire Station.
Lalor Fire Station opened in January 1958 and was closed in 1997. In 2010, the Stockade Park was redeveloped.
You can find Lalor’s Shopping Centre between May Road and Station Street. Tenants include small specialty shops and Coles and Woolworths supermarkets.
Some of the most visited destinations in Lalor are Bella Vista, Lalor Plaza, and Lalor Hub on Kingsway Drive.
